Never upset the dungeon master!

So last night I may have made my dm alittle upset. My character is a conquest paladin. Our party faced some undead orcs while rescuing some npc allies. So for my turn I went up to one of the orcs and cast branding smite. Then I proceed to roll not one one but two nat 20’s with my lance and ultimately do a combined 50 points of damage. My next turn rolls around and still having the spell active, I miss my first attack but to my luck roll another nat 20. Let’s just say the dm may have regretted letting me play this class.

  1. Pretty sure Branding Smite only works on the first hit and then goes away

  2. Branding smite ends when you hit with it though…

  3. The problem is the dm (if you use the spell correctly): made more than 1 encounter between one rest and the new one. So the party have to spend resources and the monster is more challenging

  4. Kiss those dice and never let them go.

  5. If it goes away after the 1st hit, why would it be a concentration spell for 1 min?
